At Comfortex we have our own polyurethane foam moulding plant where we can manufacture our own foam cushions using a water blown chemical process. We manufacture to different densities and hardnesses to our customer’s specifications.

Our standard range of cold cure moulded seat cushions are made from a High Density 40 kilo “V” classification foam. Our moulded cushions use a High Resilience Polymer which is designed for seating applications and has the ability to create a ’sit in’ feel and has a greater durability than standard polyurethane seats

40 Kilo “V” Classification Combustion – Modified High Resilience Cold Cure Moulded Polyurethane Foam: V classification very severe recommended applications are for public transport seats, cinema and theatre seat and contract furniture seating. This foam far exceeds ‘S’ classification foams (the standard foam classifications used in most seat cushion applications). The cushions are a High Resilience foam which refers to the foam’s springiness. The term HR foam refers to a highly resilient foam. Some seating foams are sold with a high resilience foam for that feel, High resilience foam has an irregular cell structure with small and large cell sizes which gives the foam this unique feel. In the USA a test that measures the foam’s springiness is performed by determining the percent rebound of a steel ball dropped from a height of 36 inches. The term HR foam refers to a highly resilient foam that will give a very high ‘ball rebound’ reading.

A moulded cushion has an integral skin which has the effect of creating the greatest strength around the shape of the cushion, the cushion does not lose its shape which in the trade is known as ’sagging or bagging’ They keep their shape, their texture and subsequently will last longer.
